What will you do?
1. Objective Contribute to the well-being and engagement of all employees and improve the company’s overall performance by acting as an advisor, expert, project manager and coach for operational middle and first-line management. This is done in line with the legal obligations described in the Codex on well-being at work for six of its domains: safety at work, protection of workers’ health, ergonomics, occupational hygiene, improvement of workplaces and the environment. For the seventh domain, psychosocial workload, the Prevention Consultant I will be able to recognise signals and establish the link with colleagues responsible for psychosocial prevention. 2. Main tasks a. Support, guide and advise middle and first-line management in the field of safety at work, in cooperation with the experts of the Centre of Expertise (COE) for prevention and by proactively providing targeted advice: Provide support in safety at work, including promoting and supporting the use of available safety management tools, such as the safety performance barometer, the occupational accident dashboard and fire alarms. Coach, supervise and follow up middle and first-line management at individual and collective level. Organise training and learning sessions on safety-related topics where necessary. Support and guide middle management in setting up specific annual action plans and thereby contribute to developing strategies, processes and structures to protect employees, customers and bpost’s assets. Develop and facilitate workshops on specific issues, such as roles and responsibilities, reporting and analysing occupational accidents. Provide advice based on risk analyses concerning the organisation of workplaces and workstations, environmental factors, physical, chemical, carcinogenic and biological agents, work equipment and personal protective equipment, as well as trial projects involving new work equipment or new work organisation. Complex advice must be validated by a Prevention Advisor II until the level 2 prevention advisor diploma has been obtained. Carry out systematic visits to the various workplaces, whether or not as part of an official company visit, in cooperation with local management, the occupational physician and the social partners. b. Develop, coordinate and monitor the health policy: Provide support in the context of protecting workers’ health. Ensure good interaction with local management and the occupational physician of the external service for prevention and protection at work. Develop and coordinate the local health policy in order to reduce absenteeism and increase engagement: take the initiative to optimise the organisation of health surveillance; propose ergonomic improvements to support primary health; develop new proposals and concepts supporting the local health policy; support local management in its efforts in this area; and positively influence social dialogue by actively involving the social partners in decision‑making and change processes. Coordinate preventive activities to reduce the risk of a local health crisis, in cooperation with the occupational physician: develop and deploy preventive measures relating to health crises; develop new proposals and concepts supporting this local prevention policy; monitor the quality of prevention processes, for example the quality of the induction programme for newcomers; and support local managers in current and new initiatives aimed at promoting health prevention. c. Contribute to business continuity management: Contribute to an effective crisis management system for different types of crises, such as pandemics, emergency plans in the event of fire, terrorism or suspicious items. Support middle management in developing effective emergency plans. Support middle management in organising exercises to evaluate the effectiveness of the plans and adjust them where necessary. d. Provide support for change management in the context of strategic business projects for the assigned site(s): Understand all major operational changes and be able to translate them into all processes related to well‑being. Support line managers in applying these change processes. Show flexibility in the approach in order to better deal with resistance. Demonstrate the necessary powers of persuasion. A clear understanding of the business is required. e. Guide, support and coach management in all communication and interaction activities related to well‑being, in order to increase engagement and performance: Guide middle management in planning and organising collective and individual communication on specific topics, such as the use of new work equipment, incident reporting and health prevention. Coach first‑line managers on topics defined during individual or group sessions, for example giving feedback on behaviour and communicating with the team, in order to strengthen their communication and interaction skills. f.
