Introductie

We are looking for a rigorous and analytical Functional Analyst to join a team responsible for business-critical,real-time operational software.

Organisatie

As part of initiatives related to regulatory compliance and data exchange with external market actors, you willplay a central role in the implementation and configuration of inbound and outbound data flows betweeninternal systems and external organisations.

You will bridge the gap between business requirements, functional specifications and the technical realities ofsystems integration.

Functie

The Role

This is specifically a Functional Analysis role, distinct from Business Analysis. Business requirements areprovided by Business Analysts, after which you translate them into specifications that development teams canbuild and testers can verify.

This includes defining system behaviour, interfaces, data, edge cases and failure scenarios that may not yet becovered by the initial business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review incoming business and user requirements for completeness, consistency andfeasibility.
  • Identify ambiguities, contradictions and unstated assumptions.
  • Translate requirements into detailed functional specifications, including features,user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, system behaviour and errorhandling.
  • Specify system-to-system integrations and define exchanged data, failure scenariosand performance expectations.
  • Work closely with architects, developers and testers throughout implementation.
  • Maintain functional documentation as projects evolve.
  • Participate in defect reviews and UAT campaigns.
  • Investigate data directly when analysing or qualifying defects.

Functie-eisen

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of professional Functional Analysis experience within the last 8years.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience with traffic management systems in therailway sector or comparable operational environments, such as aviation, ports,logistics or utilities.
  • Professional experience specifying or analysing system-to-system integrations,including REST/SOAP APIs or message/event-based interfaces, payload structuressuch as JSON/XML and error handling.
  • Ability to independently write SQL queries, including SELECT, JOIN, aggregation andfiltering, to investigate data, validate business rules or analyse defects. This must beclearly demonstrated with an example in the CV.
  • Experience producing functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria,business rules and system behaviour.

Languages

  • English: C1 or higher, written and spoken.
  • Dutch or French: minimum B2, spoken.

Specifications and project documentation are produced in English. Dutch or French is required for workshops, defect reviews and day-to-day communication with stakeholders.

Additional Relevant Experience

Experience with the following will strengthen the profile:

  • BPMN, UML, use cases or equivalent modelling techniques.
  • Traceability between regulatory requirements, functional requirements, interfacesand tests.
  • XML/XSD, JSON and OpenAPI.
  • Error handling, message sequencing and versioning.
  • Conceptual and logical data modelling.
  • Master and reference data.
  • Data-quality initiatives.
  • Defect triage, migrations, test preparation and UAT.

Practical Information

  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Minimum 2 days per week on-site.
  • Additional on-site presence may be required for workshops, incidents or releaseactivities.
  • This assignment starts in January 2027.
