Infrastructure Lead

Our client is assembling a four-person IT team for a long‑term security‑systems maintenance contract supporting a major international institution. As IT Lead, you will guide three IT Engineers, advise the client as a technical peer and help strengthen the infrastructure’s cybersecurity, continuity and service quality across multiple sites.

Security technology is evolving through the convergence of access control, video surveillance, intercom and IT infrastructure. Organisations are placing greater emphasis on cyber resilience, patch management, monitoring and continuity as connected physical‑security systems become more dependent on networks, servers and data. This makes the sector particularly relevant for experienced infrastructure and security specialists who can bridge operational technology and enterprise IT.

What you’ll do

• Lead and coordinate a team of 3 IT Engineers: assign and maintain a distinct area of expertise per team member, while ensuring the team as a whole remains versatile and resilient.
• Act as the main IT point of contact for the client and the Site Manager, with a strong enough grasp of the client’s network and infrastructure to engage the client’s own network teams as a technical peer.
• Ensure contractual commitments (SLAs, reporting, quality of service) are met on the IT scope.
• Contribute to the design and evolution of the IT architecture of the security systems (networks, servers, storage).
• Operate the systems day to day: installation, configuration, fine‑tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring and maintenance (including patch management).
• Track software version updates and keep the client informed of available upgrades.
• Manage a stock of IT spare parts (switches, power supplies, hard drives, etc.).
• Handle incident and problem management: analysis, diagnosis and resolution.
• Define, evaluate and implement IT security rules; draft the related operating procedures.
• Manage changes and configurations (evaluation, planning, implementation, review).
• Create, review and maintain technical documentation.
• Advise the client on performance management, capacity, IT service continuity and the automation of repetitive tasks.
• Contribute to disaster‑recovery plans and procedures related to the infrastructure.
• Contribute to the cybersecurity aspects of the environment — currently identified by the client as a priority area for improvement.

What you bring

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in IT.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a specific IT domain (infrastructure, networking, systems security).
• Solid, hands‑on operational knowledge of networking and security — able to engage the client’s network/infrastructure teams on equal technical footing, not just general IT oversight.
• Fluent in French and English (minimum B2 level).
• Solid knowledge of network environments (switching, network security) and ITIL principles.
• Able to lead a small technical team, assigning clear individual areas of expertise while keeping the group versatile, and to represent IT in front of an institutional client.
• This is a systems/network/infrastructure administration and IT‑security role — not a development position.

Nice to have

• Cybersecurity training or certification (Master’s level, or equivalent to 3 years of experience in the field).
• Prior experience in a secure or institutional environment (familiar with security‑clearance processes).

The offer

• Employment with Ariad, working within the client’s team.
• Full‑time, on‑site role in Brussels.
• Expected start in January.
• Standard working hours are Monday to Friday between 7.00 am and 6.00 pm, with dedicated arrangements for evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• A high‑level national or international security clearance equivalent to SECRET is required before contract signature; Ariad will support the EU SECRET clearance process.
• Freelance or permanent employment is possible, with permanent employment preferred.
