AISB-997 Senior Business Analyst – Legal Governance & Data Management

ABAKUS IT SOLUTIONS is looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a strategic transformation programme focused on legal data management, governance and topic management. In this role, you will act as the essential bridge between Legal, IT and Management, transforming business needs and complex legal processes into clear, structured and actionable IT requirements. You will contribute to improving the quality and usability of legal data while helping establish a structured approach to managing topics, actions, responsibilities and reporting.

Your Mission

• Analyse existing business processes, workflows and pain points related to legal data.
• Assess and improve the quality, structure and usability of data to enable reliable reporting and decision-making.
• Define and standardise classifications, coding structures and mandatory data fields.
• Identify opportunities to improve data flows, consistency and governance.
• Contribute to the development of management dashboards and reporting solutions for trend analysis, risk identification and topic monitoring.
• Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications and ensure an effective handover to IT teams.

2. Legal Governance & Topic Management

• Design and structure a consistent lessons-learned process, including standard templates and recurring review cycles.
• Define and classify legal and operational topics, distinguishing between local and cross-functional issues.
• Establish structured links between topics and corresponding actions, including:
  • Owners and responsibilities
  • Deadlines
  • Status tracking
  • Escalation mechanisms
• Support governance and management reporting by monitoring open topics, overdue actions and cross-functional dependencies.
• Facilitate coordination between different departments and stakeholders where topics have a broader organisational impact.

Your Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements

• Conduct in-depth business analysis of existing processes and requirements.
• Map business needs and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
• Identify gaps, improvement opportunities and dependencies.
• Ensure a smooth transition from business analysis to IT implementation.
• Apply structured modelling techniques such as BPMN, workflows and data-flow diagrams.

Stakeholder Management & Workshops

• Act as the communication bridge between Legal, IT and Management.
• Organise and facilitate business-IT workshops and requirements-gathering sessions.
• Bring together multiple stakeholders and align potentially conflicting requirements.
• Translate legal and business concepts into clear IT requirements — and technical concepts back into business language.
• Coordinate cross-functional topics involving multiple departments or business units.
• Communicate findings, recommendations and progress clearly to both operational and management audiences.

Your Qualifications

• Master's degree, preferably in Law, Business Administration, IT, Information Management or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in legal, governance, compliance, data or complex corporate environments.
• Proven experience in business requirements analysis and requirements gathering.
• Strong experience facilitating business-IT workshops.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience with business process modelling, preferably BPMN.
• Understanding of data governance, data flows, data quality and data standards.
• Good understanding of IT systems, integrations and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with Agile environments.
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Visio or comparable process-modelling tools.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while coordinating multiple stakeholders.
