- Design and run proofs of concept and produce evidence-based recommendations covering cost, operational impact, lock-in and exit strategy
- Define secure-by-design reference architectures, patterns and hardening baselines; review service designs at architecture gates
- Lead threat modelling, own technical risk register entries, propose mitigations and track remediation
- Support deployment of Windows and Linux server applications
- Integrate applications with identity providers
- Support creation and deployment of client applications on end-user workstations
- Gather and report metrics and KPIs
- Support in-service operations and assigned NATO, local command and Atlassian systems
- Maintain operational and support environments; monitor application performance
- Support CIS Support Units and other staff with daily system operations
- Manage EntraID groups and roles and configure Azure/AWS cloud components
- Deploy, configure and support AI-based solutions, tools and agents
- Support COTS-AI integration in production and coordinate monitoring and maintenance
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex software problems
- Monitor helpdesk incident management, ticket updates and service-level resolution
- Escalate complex issues to vendors or appropriate teams and follow up through resolution
- Create and maintain knowledge-base documentation and share best practices
- Analyze and document requirements and change requests; review technical documentation
- Control access to restricted areas and ensure software/hardware functionality and security
- Monitor COTS applications and report infrastructure, hardware and software issues
- Support security approval/accreditation and compliance with NCIA/NATO regulations
- Gather functional/non-functional requirements and draft system specifications
- Support technical reviews, walkthroughs, audits, change/configuration management, releases, deployments and testing
- Provide input to service, project and portfolio managers and collaborate with NCIA and vendors
Requirements
- Deep understanding of end-user devices running Windows OS, Android OS and Apple iPhones/iPads
- Expert knowledge of Linux, Windows and Active Directory
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2019-2025 and IIS-based web applications
- Very good understanding and experience with AI/LLM
- Deep understanding of networking infrastructure
- Very good knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud technologies and deployment
- Deep understanding of PKI, certificate management and post-quantum migration
- Expertise in at least four specified software engineering technologies and standards, including HTML5, REST & Web Services, XML, HTTP, SQL, Visual Basic for Applications, OAuth, OIDC, SAML2, .NET/C#, Java and JavaScript
- Deep understanding of security constraints and requirements in CIS
- Deep understanding of NCIA and NATO security directives, regulations, industry best practices and standards
- Familiarity with Outlook, Teams and SharePoint
- Experience with IIS, JBOSS, Apache Tomcat and .NET-based applications
- Extensive experience deploying and managing client-server applications, application integration and data transformation
- Strong technical skills investigating, diagnosing and resolving complex IT issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Full proficiency in English; French proficiency advantageous
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users
- Ability to work in cross-functional application management/deployment teams
- Strong customer service focus and commitment to user satisfaction
- Ability to manage multiple projects/activities and prioritize tasks
- Attention to detail in documentation and record keeping
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in computer science or electronic engineering
- Very good knowledge of software engineering areas including requirements management, software change management and testing, secure software engineering, configuration management and application lifecycle management
- Ability to work effectively in a team and share knowledge/resources
- Willingness to collaborate on complex issues
- Strong customer relationship skills, including negotiating complex and sensitive situations under pressure
- NATO nation nationality
- NATO Secret Security Clearance or national equivalent
- Prior experience in an international environment
