About The Lab & Project

Join our newly established Physical AI Lab in Kathmandu as part of The A² Project: AI-Powered Agricultural Innovation. The project is a multinational initiative based in Nepal and the USA, leveraging farming environments as real-world labs for applied AI education. It is a collaboration between Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) and JICA/TCP to develop advanced agricultural monitoring systems.

About The Position

As an intern, you will:

• Develop AI/ML technologies for sustainable agriculture
• Work on three real-world project tracks:
  • AI-Powered Wildlife Deterrent System
  • Multi-Scale AI Monitoring for Urban Agriculture
  • AI-assisted Rice Seed Quality Control (NE, US collaboration)
• Collaborate with team members in Nepal and the USA
• Gain hands-on experience with AI, ML, and IoT technologies
• Participate in field testing at NAAMII, NARC & NARMA Agro Farms
• Work with edge computing, IoT sensor networks, computer vision pipelines, and TinyML deployment

Requirements

• Education: Recent graduate in Computer Science, Agriculture, IoT, or related fields
• Technical Skills: Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts and programming
• Location: Must work in-person in Dharmasthali, Tarakeshwor and participate in field testing
• Transportation & Allowance: Students arrange transportation; allowance of Rs. 3,000 per night for outside Kathmandu travel
• Commitment: Full program duration (April – October 2025)
• Passion: Interest in technology applications for agriculture and environment
• Teamwork: Strong collaborative skills and willingness to learn and share knowledge
