Automation Project Engineer – Food Manufacturing
Long-term freelance contract
I am supporting a major international food manufacturer that is continuing to expand its Automation Engineering team following the launch of several CAPEX and production automation projects.
We are looking for an experienced Automation Project Engineer with a broad background in food manufacturing who can take ownership of automation and electrical work packages from initial design through to commissioning and start-up.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the automation scope within CAPEX and production projects
- Define automation and control strategies for new equipment and production lines
- Coordinate machine builders, system integrators and equipment suppliers
- Review technical specifications, quotations and supplier designs
- Ensure equipment complies with internal automation, electrical and safety standards
- Support projects through design, procurement, FAT, installation, SAT and commissioning
- Troubleshoot automation issues during commissioning and start-up
- Coordinate interfaces between automation, electrical, mechanical and production teams
- Support integration of new machinery into the existing OT/production environment
- Travel internationally for supplier FATs and project commissioning when required
Requirements
- Strong automation engineering experience within food, beverage, FMCG or similar production environments
- Experience delivering automation projects involving production lines, packaging equipment or industrial machinery
- Strong knowledge of Siemens S7/TIA Portal and/or Rockwell ControlLogix / Studio 5000
- Good understanding of industrial networks such as Profinet and EtherNet/IP
- Ability to understand and review electrical drawings and machine automation designs
- Experience working directly with machine builders, OEMs and system integrators
- FAT, SAT, commissioning and start-up experience
- Comfortable combining project engineering with hands-on technical troubleshooting when required
- Dutch and English communication skills
