Founding Audit Partner, Belgium

Revident is building the tech-native financial audit firm for modern finance teams. We are looking for a réviseur d'entreprises / bedrijfsrevisor to build it with us as Founding Audit Partner, Belgium. This is your chance to:

• Build a company of the future. Progress of AI adoption in the big firms has been slow. The gap between the potential of the technology and the level of implementation is huge. Decision by committee will probably hold audit firms back for another 5 years. Meanwhile, the next generation of highly-ambitious companies are being built from the ground up with small, talent-dense, teams that put technology at their core. They are starting to outpace incumbents in many industries. Be part of building what that looks like in financial audit.
• Decide what audit delivery looks like in the AI era, and build it. We're betting on auditors and engineers building side by side. You decide what an audit you sign relies on, what needs review, and what still needs a human.

What we are building

• Where we are. Revident is an early-stage startup. We are not yet a registered audit firm and do not yet perform audits. Building that capability with you is the point of this role.
• How we work. Everyone works with AI every day, with the best tools available, and a company-wide agentic operating system. We start from the assumption that everything can be automated, and we work backwards from there to identify where humans add value.
• Software executes, auditors own the process, judgement and review. Our audit testing principle is deterministic where possible, agentic where necessary. Auditors' time goes on judgement and review, not on execution.
• Audit around the monthly close, not a busy season. We are designing the software so that findings arrive continuously, and land in time for the monthly close. This way, clients always know where they stand, and there are no surprises at year end.
• Your co-founders. Henry is a chartered accountant and former auditor, and was previously Chief of Staff to the CFO at a global industrial. Maarten is an AI engineer and formerly led the development of regulated data platforms in the insurance industry. Between us we have been the auditor, the audited finance team and the engineers who move regulated financial data at volume.

The role

You would co-found Revident's Belgian firm and be its licensed auditor in Belgium.

• Build and lead the audit firm. Lead the audit company's registration with the IBR-IRE, its governance, its quality management system, and its independence policies.
• Own the method and compliance with audit standards. Set the risk assessment, procedures and evidence standards with the team. Decide when an automated procedure is reliable enough to rely on, and what always needs human review.
• Sign. Take signing responsibility for the audit opinions the firm issues.
• Shape the product. Work daily with the engineers who build the evidence pipelines and tests, so the software produces work you can defend at inspection.
• Meet customers. Sit with finance leaders, lead the first pilots and audits, and turn what each engagement teaches us into product.
• Build the audit team. Hire and lead the Audit Engineers who turn procedures into repeatable automations and report to you.

About you

You need:

• Registration as a réviseur d'entreprises / bedrijfsrevisor with the IBR-IRE, with the right to sign statutory audits in Belgium.
• Several years' experience signing statutory audits, preferably at a brand name firm.
• Professional English, and French or Dutch. Trilingual preferred.

You are:

• Engaged in up-skilling with AI. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be at a minimum curious about AI, and already engaged in building familiarity with the technology. Familiarity with data analytics and audit technology preferred.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and speed of execution. We are early stage and changing fast. We need people willing to roll up their sleeves and do the work.
• Customer-facing. You have the skills and willingness to lead sales in Belgium and build a firm from zero.
