YOUR TASKS
- You provide support for the department’s practice‑oriented teaching (organisation, supervision, and assessment of practical exercises and seminars), in particular for the practical and methodological courses related to the early modern period, chiefly Historical Practice I and Historical Practice II.
- You assist in the examination and evaluation of lecture courses, primarily those concerning the early modern period.
- You contribute to the preparation and organisation of the programme’s project week (Verleden Week).
- You maintain the website of the Institute for Early Modern History.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a degree of Master of Arts in History (preferably). The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment
- For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted
- You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching at the department
- You are interested in a teaching assignment in the field concerned
- You are interested in academic and/or project-based research and services
- Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended
- We offer you an appointment until 30 June 2028, which will not be renewed. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University
- Your appointment will start on 1 January 2027 at the earliest
