D-NETWORK is looking for an IT Engineering Manager for an International Healthcare Technology Company based in Mechelen.

The Opportunity :

Our client is investing heavily in the foundations of its engineering organisation, and is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead teams within its desktop software platforms group during a major modernisation phase.

The programme covers:

  • Repeatable, container-based build environments
  • A single, harmonised CI/CD pipeline
  • Modernisation of the software architecture
  • Reinforced cybersecurity practices
  • Stronger release governance
  • Delivery scaled across several sites in Europe and Australia

This is a technical people-leadership position. You are accountable for outcomes (team capability, delivery predictability, quality and compliance) rather than hands-on coding or project management. Your leadership directly shapes the organisation’s ability to ship safe, dependable clinical software worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, lead and develop high-performing engineering teams building clinical desktop software
  • Bring clarity and stability to a complex, regulated environment
  • Secure predictable delivery through disciplined planning and early risk identification
  • Raise engineering standards across CI/CD, testing, documentation and quality practices
  • Ensure compliance with architectural patterns and regulatory expectations
  • Work closely with Architecture, DevOps, QA, Regulatory, Product and Delivery teams
  • Drive continuous improvement while reducing technical debt and legacy complexity
  • Foster a culture where quality, safety and accountability are the default

Your Profile

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including at least 3 years in engineering leadership or people-management roles
  • Proven track record leading teams that deliver complex, long-lived production software where reliability, quality and risk management are critical
  • Strong people-leadership skills: hiring, coaching, feedback and performance management
  • Solid technical foundation, allowing you to engage credibly with architects and senior engineers
  • Familiarity with modern engineering practices: CI/CD, automation, DevOps
  • Comfortable operating in a global, multi-site organisation
  • Clear communicator with sound judgment, ownership and calm leadership under pressure
  • Strong plus: experience in medical devices, healthcare or another regulated, safety-critical or quality-driven environment

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Other engineering backgrounds considered with substantial, demonstrable professional software development experience
  • A rigorous engineering foundation is required; this role is not suited to non-engineering profiles

Languages

  • Fluent professional English (spoken and written) is mandatory
  • Dutch and/or French is an advantage but not required

Contract

Permanent employee contract only (no freelancers for this opportunity)
