Description :

For our client, we are looking for a Google Cloud Platform Engineer, to join their team on a long-term freelance mission in Mechelen.

Context

Within a large financial organization, we are planning to build a Google Cloud Foundation MVP, with the first use case being to enable the use of Google Gemini alongside existing AI platforms such as Microsoft Foundry and AWS Bedrock.

The assignment includes establishing a future-proof Google Cloud Foundation, as well as migrating existing use cases.

In the longer term, the platform should evolve into an enterprise-ready solution that enables future DevOps teams to be onboarded efficiently while adhering to organizational standards, policies and governance requirements.

Role

You will play a key role in designing and/or implementing a Google Cloud Foundation that meets enterprise architecture, security and governance requirements.

Depending on your profile, the focus may be on architecture, implementation, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities

• Implement an enterprise-wide Google Cloud architecture aligned with organizational guidelines, standards and policies.
• Define a future-proof cloud foundation, with the first use case being the adoption of Google Gemini across the organization.
• Provide guidance on governance, security and operational models.

Security & Governance

• Develop and implement a threat model.
• Share knowledge and implement governance standards covering:
• Encryption
• Access management
• Compliance requirements
• Design security controls and integrate them with existing security processes.

Identity & Access Management

• Design and implement IAM architectures.
• RBAC model
• Federated Identity
• Least Privilege Access principles

Operations & Monitoring

• Implement logging, monitoring and observability capabilities.
• Integrate with existing SIEM platforms.
• Define and implement operational processes for incident management and platform operations.
• Define and implement an engagement model with Google similar to the current operating model used with AWS and Azure.
• Establish cost tracking, showback/chargeback and cost management processes.
• Advise on cloud governance and lifecycle management.

Networking

• Design and implement Google Cloud networking architectures.

Implementation

• Automate platform components using Infrastructure as Code.
• Implement foundational services and security controls.
• Support the migration of existing workloads to the new platform.

Profile

Must-Have

• Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform in enterprise environments.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud foundations or landing zones.
• Strong knowledge of IAM, security, networking and cloud governance.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code.

Technical Skills

• Terraform
• Python

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with AI platforms such as Google Gemini, Microsoft Foundry or AWS Bedrock.
• Experience in regulated industries or financial institutions.
• Understanding of FinOps practices.

Desired Profile

• Hands-on implementation profile.
• Strong expertise in Terraform, Google Cloud services and automation.
• Experience operationalizing enterprise cloud platforms.
