PROJECT BACKGROUND
OWI CREATE will advance the Belgian offshore (wind) sector in the national and international market by accelerating innovation. This involves consolidating all (new, ongoing and completed) R&D initiatives within a unified Offshore Energy Center of Excellence. The main goals of this center are to formulate a joint innovation roadmap for Belgium, foster technological innovations in core labs, cultivate multidisciplinary research and set up an academy. The emphasis is on enhancing internationalization and nurturing collaboration among academia, industry and policymakers.
YOUR TASKS
- As a highly motivated engineer, you will work on work package 2, including: preparing a report of core labs expertise and infrastructure, and a benchmark report, and a list of funding and innovation projects enabling the development of the future core labs.
- You will actively collaborate with project partners, participate in planning meetings, manage project timelines and deliverables, and contribute to reports. The project offers a unique opportunity for multidisciplinary collaboration and building your professional research network.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You hold a Master’s degree in civil engineering or coastal engineering or a related field.
Knowledge of and interest in physical modelling and numerical modelling of coastal hydrodynamics.
Prior research experience (e.g., Master’s thesis) in reef hydrodynamics, coastal protection, artificial reefs, or coastal nature-based solutions is an advantage.
Previous experimental research experience in a wave flume or wave basin is a plus.
Hands‑on experience in programming and data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
A flexible, responsible, and collaborative team player.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 3 months
- Your contract will start on 1/10/2026 at the earliest.
