Your Role & Work Environment

We are looking for a Director / Vice President to join the Brussels based Commodities, Food & Agri (CF&A) Sector team within ING Wholesale Banking. The Belgian team is part of a global CF&A franchise covering companies active in the food industry, agricultural sector and commodities (including metals & mining). The Belgian CF&A team provides large Belgian and international corporates with creative, multi‑product solutions, offering a broad range of services from financing and advisory to daily banking services. The team aims to play a key role in financing a leading sector for Belgium in which our clients operate at the heart of the international food and commodity value chain.

Our ambition is built on ING’s three key pillars: our global reach combined with local expertise, sector expertise, and leadership in sustainability. The role is for a candidate with a strong commercial drive, clear focus on internal and external relationship building, and solid analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and invest in long‑term relationships with clients and prospects, positioning ING as their primary banking partner.
  • Frequent contact with C‑level executives and finance departments of large Belgian corporates, banks and legal advisors.
  • Facilitate and lead (virtual) client teams to deliver the best value in close cooperation with Risk Management, Product Specialists and Relationship Managers.
  • Pitch, originate and execute new transactions.
  • Manage a portfolio of Belgian clients, both domestically and internationally.
  • Build and expand your network within the sector and beyond (internally and externally).
  • Develop a strong understanding of dynamics in the food & commodities sectors to enhance client interactions.
  • Act as a role model for junior colleagues by coaching them and fostering a strong team spirit.
  • Take part in broader sector initiatives and local Wholesale Banking Belgium initiatives.

Desired Profile

  • A master’s degree in economics, management, law or a comparable field, with minimum 7 years of relevant experience, including a proven track record in banking and client management.
  • Experience in corporate banking (ecosystem building, deal origination and structuring) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of debt structuring, financial markets, debt capital markets and corporate finance.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch (preferred) and/or French.
  • Ability to work autonomously, perform under pressure and contribute to a positive team environment; demonstrate a clear “One Bank” mindset.
  • Willingness to coach junior colleagues and provide constructive feedback.

We Offer You

Personal growth and challenging work with ample opportunities to realise your ambitions in a global and forward‑looking organisation. An informal and dynamic working environment with innovative colleagues who support your initiatives. A progressive and agile way of working where new ideas are valued over convention. A hybrid way of working that offers flexibility while ensuring business continuity, customer service and employee wellbeing.

Additional benefits:

  • Opportunities to participate in training and professional development programmes.
  • Exposure to challenging projects with a steep learning curve.
  • The possibility of an international assignment.
  • The opportunity to build a strong network within the Belgian C‑suite landscape by making a tangible difference and impact for clients, yourself and ING.
