We are looking for an experienced Java / Azure Enterprise Integration Developer with strong Java 17 and Spring Boot skills to support our Salesforce/CRM landscape. You will build secure and reliable Java/Azure services, REST APIs and event-driven integrations. You have experience with resilience, observability and CI/CD, and preferably with Terraform and Microsoft Azure. Salesforce experience is an advantage, but not essential. More important is the ability to design, build and provide operational support for business-critical integrations end to end within an enterprise Azure environment.
The developer works at the intersection of Java, Azure and Salesforce. This is not a traditional Salesforce Developer role, but an experienced enterprise integration role within an Azure environment. Extensive Apex experience is not required. However, the candidate should be able to understand integration architecture, build production-ready services and help determine where business logic should reside.
Build Java/Azure domain services that can be reused by Salesforce and other channels.
Design and deliver synchronous and asynchronous integrations with Salesforce.
Support resource-intensive, long-running or integration-heavy processing outside Salesforce.
Contribute to technical analysis, solution design, testing, deployment and production support.
Ideal Profile
Must-have competencies
Java 17 or later, Spring Boot / Spring Framework, Maven, JUnit, Mockito, clean code and code reviews.
Azure and cloud
Develop and deploy Java services on Microsoft Azure. Knowledge of App Service or Functions, Key Vault, Azure Monitor / Application Insights and cloud-native principles.
Integration and APIs
REST, API contracts, versioning, backward compatibility, OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, and synchronous versus asynchronous patterns.
Messaging
Event-driven architecture and messaging, preferably Azure Service Bus.
Observability and monitoring
Logging, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting and production monitoring. Knowledge of ELK, Azure Monitor, Application Insights or similar platforms.
Security
Secure software development, OWASP Top 10, secret management, managed identities, API security and security by design.
Operations and reliability
Spring Boot Actuator, health monitoring and resilience patterns such as retries, circuit breakers, timeouts and bulkheads.
Request-reply, publish-subscribe, event sourcing, dead-letter handling, idempotency and error handling in distributed systems.
Databases and persistence
Azure SQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle, JPA/Hibernate, database migrations and performance optimisation.
DevOps and IaC
Git/GitHub, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, SonarQube, automated testing, DevSecOps and Terraform.
Analysis and design
Technical analysis, solution design, troubleshooting and translating requirements into maintainable solutions.
Salesforce / CRM-specific knowledge
The candidate does not need to be a Salesforce specialist, but should be able to approach Salesforce as part of an integrated application landscape.
Design, build and manage integrations between Salesforce and Java/Azure.
Have a basic understanding of Salesforce APIs, authentication and relevant platform limits.
Assess which logic belongs in Salesforce/Apex and which is better implemented as a Java/Azure service.
Consider reuse across channels, separate lifecycles, scalability, security and operational manageability.
Work effectively with Salesforce Developers, functional analysts, solution architects and platform teams.
Nice-to-have competencies
Knowledge of the Salesforce platform and the ability to read or review Apex code.
Salesforce Platform Events, Change Data Capture or similar event mechanisms.
Azure API Management, Docker and container platforms.
Boomi/iPaaS, ActiveMQ or other enterprise integration platforms.
OpenFeign, REST clients or similar integration frameworks.
GraphQL in an enterprise API landscape.
OpenAPI/Swagger, contract-first API development and API governance.
Spring Cloud, resilience4j or similar cloud-native libraries.
OpenTelemetry for tracing and monitoring.
Azure Entra ID and machine-to-machine authentication.
GitOps, release management, and blue-green or canary deployments.
Enterprise-scale event versioning and schema governance.
Domain-Driven Design, microservices and enterprise integration patterns.
Experience in banking or financial services, including security, audit and compliance requirements.
Soft Skills
Takes end-to-end ownership, from technical analysis through to production.
Works pragmatically, making deliberate choices that favour simplicity, maintainability and stability.
