Junior AI Engineer

Do you have some Python or Azure under your belt and want to turn that knowledge into AI applications people actually use?Then you belong at The Zoo.We’re not looking for a junior who only follows tutorials and builds theory. We want someone who’s eager to learn, happy to get their hands dirty and grows step by step towards full-blown AI solutions in production.

The Zoo is a team of hybrid thinkers and doers from Hasselt. Strategists, developers, marketers and AI specialists work together on solutions that get used, not just presented.No silos, no traditional role divisions. Just teamwork on real client problems, from idea to implementation.

Your role: learning by doing

You work at the intersection of AI engineering, Azure and real client projects.

You help build AI solutions with guidance from experienced colleagues, take ownership of parts of projects and grow step by step into more technical responsibility.

You work on RAG pipelines, AI agents and Copilot applications. You learn how to translate a business question into a concrete, working solution on Azure.

You get to know the Azure AI stack: Azure AI Search, Azure Functions, API integrations and more. You build with guidance, but gain autonomy quickly.

You help shape proofs of concept and learn how to get them production-ready, with an eye for scalability, performance and security.

You actively follow new AI developments, test new tools and share what you learn with the team.

What we expect (must-haves)

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field, but drive and talent count at least as much.

You have experience with Python and/or C# through your studies, projects or your own experiments. You’re not afraid of a codebase.

You know what RAG, LLMs and AI agents are and you’re curious how they work in practice. You don’t have to be an expert yet, but the drive has to be there.

You don’t wait for someone to tell you the next step. You look for answers yourself, ask for help when you need it and grow fast.

You can explain technical concepts clearly and enjoy working in a team.

You speak fluent Dutch and English.

Nice-to-haves: First experience with Azure (through your studies, a certificate or your own project) | Interest in Microsoft Copilot Studio or Power Platform | Experience with API integrations or data pipelines | Knowledge of agentic frameworks such as LangChain or Semantic Kernel
