Experience designing and developing backend services and APIs

Experience with .NET Core

Experience with Blazor (optional)

Strong hands-on experience with Azure, particularly:

Application Insights

Event-Grid

Event-driven architectures

MassTransit

The developer should also understand general Azure architecture, governance, and security concepts, including:

Service Principals (SPNs)

Managed Identities

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Azure resource organization and governance

Authentication and authorization between Azure services

APIs & Integration:

Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs

Experience with OData

API versioning and backward compatibility

API security and authentication

Experience integrating distributed systems and services

Software Architecture & Design

Good practical knowledge of:

Domain-Driven Design (DDD)

CQRS

MediatR

Vertical Slice Architecture

Repository Pattern

Event-driven architecture

More importantly, the developer should understand when and why to use these patterns, rather than applying them by default.

DevOps & Delivery

Strong understanding of Azure DevOps

Automated build, test, and deployment processes

Environment and configuration management

Git-based development workflows

Pull requests, code reviews, and branch management

Clean, maintainable, and testable code

Unit and integration testing

Logging, monitoring, and observability

Error handling and resiliency

Performance awareness

Code reviews and engineering standards

Data Access & Persistence

Strong experience with Entity Framework Core (EF Core)

Experience with Dapper for lightweight and performance-sensitive data access

Strong knowledge of SQL

Experience with Azure SQL / SQL Server

Database schema design and normalization

Query optimization and performance tuning

Indexing and execution plans

Database migrations

Transactions and concurrency handling

Understanding when to use EF Core vs. Dapper

Experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases, including Cosmos DB
