Contract
We're seeking an experienced Warehouse Team Leader to join our operations team at our state-of-the-art facility in Gent Zeehaven. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide, inspire, and work alongside a dedicated team of warehouse professionals while ensuring operational excellence in our fast-paced international logistics environment.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Coach and motivate warehouse staff to consistently achieve operational KPIs and quality standards
- Operational Planning: Create efficient work schedules, allocate resources, and optimize workflow processes
- Hands-On Management: Lead by example - work directly with your team using forklifts and warehouse equipment when needed
- Performance Management: Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and implement improvement initiatives
- Critical Decision Making: Make quick, effective decisions during peak periods and tight deadline situations
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols and quality standards are maintained at all times
- Reporting: Provide regular updates to warehouse supervisors and operational management
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs
Profile
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 3+ years of team leadership experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution environments
- Forklift certification (or commitment to obtain certification within 30 days)
- Strong communication skills in Dutch and English (French is a plus)
- Proven track record of meeting KPIs and managing operational deadlines
- Physical stamina for hands-on warehouse work and extended periods on your feet
- Flexible schedule - ability to work various shifts including occasional weekends
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to make decisions under pressure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field or equal through experience
- Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
- Knowledge of customs procedures and international shipping
- Lean/Six Sigma certification or continuous improvement experience
- Multilingual capabilities for our international client base
