The Senior Program Manager supports the program lead for the J&J Innovative Medicine Supply Chain Manufacturing and Technical Operations Packaging & Device Environmental Compliance Program. The main focus is to help prepare the organization for EU PPWR readiness by 2030 by translating regulatory requirements into clear plans, resources, timelines, risks, and implementation actions.

Operating Model and Interfaces: The role works in a virtual global program structure and collaborates closely with the program lead, Manufacturing and Technical Operations, MSAT, packaging and device experts, manufacturing sites, external partners, Environmental Product Compliance & Sustainability, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, Planning, Digital, Artwork, Labeling, and business planning teams.

• Clear global scope, roadmap, governance, staffing model, and funding plan for EU PPWR readiness through 2030.
• Aligned implementation schedules across the PPWR program and related business initiatives.

roles and responsibilities

• Scope assessment: Support the program team in assessing EU PPWR impact across products, packaging, devices, manufacturing sites, and global supply chain partners.
• Staffing and funding: Help define the resources, capabilities, and funding needed to deliver the program, and support preparation of approval materials.
• Integrated planning: Maintain a clear roadmap through 2030 and align implementation timing with related initiatives, including digital labeling, artwork automation, rebranding, technology transfers, and asset replacements.
• Digitization, data, analytics, and ERP integration: Define and coordinate the digital enablement roadmap for the program, including data governance and quality, master and transactional data requirements, analytics and reporting solutions, workflow automation, and integration with ERP and related enterprise platforms.
• Project and program scheduling: Set up, maintain, update, and report integrated project and program schedules, including key milestones, dependencies, critical paths, and progress against plan.
• Financial cost control and reporting: Establish and maintain cost baselines, track actuals and forecasts, analyze variances, and provide clear financial reporting to support timely decisions and effective program cost control.
• Risk management: Identify and track key risks, dependencies, decisions, and mitigation actions, escalating items that need program lead or sponsor attention.
• Stakeholder communication: Prepare clear updates, governance materials, and decision inputs for senior leaders, global functions, manufacturing sites, and cross-functional teams.
• Organizational change management: Support adoption of new processes, roles, data practices, training, and ways of working needed for environmental compliance.
• Global execution support: Coordinate actions and follow-up across a virtual, global, matrixed team structure.
• Travel: Work is primarily virtual and global. Limited business travel may be required for selected site, supplier, governance, or workshop activities, with a maximum of 5% travel.

how to succeed

• Strong senior program management experience, including roadmap, governance, budget, risk, dependency, and stakeholder management.
• Strong financial acumen and capital management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, variance analysis, and development and governance of capital funding requests.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project for schedule development, critical-path and dependency management, baseline control, progress tracking, and reporting.
• Experience applying Agile and Scrum principles, including iterative planning, backlog prioritization, sprint delivery, and cross-functional team coordination.
