<div><h3>Senior Environmental Sustainability Officer</h3><p>The European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & Healthcare (EDQM) is a leading organisation whose mission is to contribute to public health protection by engaging with an international community of experts and stakeholders. We achieve this by promoting acces to safe medicines and healthcare through the elaboration of quality standards, which are recognised as a scientific bookmark worldwide. The EDQM’s standards for medicines and their ingredients, compiled in the European Pharmacopeia, are legally binding in its 39 member states (and the European Union) and are also widely used across the globe in the human and animal health sectors. The EDQM also plays a crucial role in the areas of blood transfusion, organ, tissue and cell transplantation and in developing and setting consumer health standards, such as for cosmetics and food contact materials.</p><p>You will be working in the Co-ordination & Support team within the EDQM’s Supply Chain Department (SCD), which is responsible for supply and operation planning, scientific procurement of raw materials, logistics operations (warehousing and dispatch) and production, as well as processing orders and related requests. The SCD also manages the EDQM’s catalogue of European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) reference standards and the World Health Organization’s International Standards for Antibiotics and International Chemical Reference Standards (ICRS), which involves classifying all the substances used to prepare these standards and ICRS, and drafting related safety data sheets. Finally, the SCD is also responsible for implementing sustainability measures within the EDQM .</p><p>Your Role</p><p>As a Senior Environmental Sustainability Officer, you will :</p><ul><li>perform life cycle assessments (LCAs) on Supply Chain Department (SCD) and other EDQM products and analyse the environmental impact of these products ;</li><li>make proposals concerning the identification and introduction of new products, equipment and practices with the aim of reducing the EDQM’s greenhouse gas emissions (low‑carbon packaging materials, transportation of products, production equipment, etc.) ;</li><li>identify initiatives for reducing waste and the consumption of energy and fluids relating to the production and distribution processes ;</li><li>be responsible for key performance indicators and take necessary action in partnership with any affected entities;</li><li>facilitate internal focus groups on environmental topics;</li><li>design and lead internal training courses on topics related to the environment;</li><li>work in close collaboration with other EDQM entities, in particular the European Pharmacopoeia Department and the Laboratory Department, as well as with the Council of Europe’s Directorate General of Administration to co‑ordinate initiatives in this area.</li><li>have at least 4 years ’ relevant professional experience gained in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry or in an analytical laboratory or similar environment;</li><li>have a very good knowledge of French or English and good knowledge of the other language.</li></ul><p>You must also:</p><ul><li>be a citizen of one of the member states of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;</li><li>have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);</li><li>not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;</li><li>be under the age of 65 years.</li></ul><p>Your application must demonstrate to what extent you have the competencies listed below.
