Within the Geel Weighing & Logistics department, the Logistics and Customs Expert (M/F/X) is a key member of the team responsible for executing timely, compliant inbound and outbound shipments of Innovative Medicine products, accurate customs filings and effective warehouse capacity management. Working closely with warehouse operations and internal stakeholders, this role ensures that materials and products are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time while maintaining compliance with Belgian Customs, excise, dangerous goods, GxP, and internal requirements.

The role combines operational shipment coordination, customs and excise administration and proactive management of internal and external warehouse capacity to safeguard material availability, production schedule adherence, and uninterrupted patient supply.

Key responsibilities:

  • Operational coordination and shipment execution: Coordinate loading, unloading, sampling, and pick-and-pack activities with warehouse operations in line with planned commercial, non-commercial, and sample shipments.
  • Prepare accurate transport, customs, and dangerous goods documentation, including CMRs, invoices, packing lists, import and export declarations, and dangerous goods declarations.
  • Provide hands‑on support to resolve daily operational issues and deliver reliable service to internal customers.
  • Customs and excise compliance: Maintain complete and accurate records for Duty Inward Processing Relief, prepare monthly and quarterly IPR filings for Belgian Customs, and ensure correct excise reporting for Janssen Pharmaceutica NV Belgium.
  • Warehouse capacity management: Monitor fill rates across internal warehouse areas by GHS class, temperature, and quality requirements; act when capacity reaches defined action limits; and coordinate overflow storage and flows to and from external warehouses.
  • Follow the Geel production plan and arrange the timely return of externally stored materials to safeguard material availability.
  • Ensure compliant storage through accurate master data, system reporting, and adherence to applicable product and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or support improvement projects within the area of responsibility, applying Lean principles and data-driven problem solving.
  • Support and back up colleagues, contribute to inspection readiness, and actively participate in the departmental TIER communication process.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, international trade, business administration, or a related field.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum three years of relevant supply chain, logistics, or customs experience.
  • Working knowledge of import and export customs processes; experience with Duty Inward Processing Relief and excise reporting is a strong asset.
  • Ability to prepare and review transport and customs documentation accurately and meet regulatory filing deadlines.
  • Strong planning, analytical, and data-management skills, with the ability to maintain oversight in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Proficient in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft applications and comfortable working with digital systems and operational reporting. Th
