Data Governance Specialist

You will work for a public energy network operator that helps provide reliable access to electricity and natural gas across Wallonia. The organisation is modernising its networks to support renewable energy and developments such as electric mobility and heat pumps. Within the IT team, you will help build clear and practical data governance while developing your knowledge of data quality, security, privacy and compliance.

Your Tasks

• Support the development of data governance policies, standards and procedures.
• Help structure a governance model suited to a decentralised organisation.
• Coordinate with Data Owners and Data Stewards and support role adoption.
• Improve data quality, traceability and transparency across the organisation.
• Maintain the business glossary and contribute to the data catalogue.
• Support governance across the data lifecycle and for Data Products and Data Contracts.
• Collaborate with business, IT, security and privacy teams on compliant data use.

Your Skills

• You hold a Master's degree or have equivalent professional experience.
• You bring relevant experience in data governance, data management or data quality and are motivated to grow further in this field.
• You understand data security, privacy and compliance principles, including GDPR, ISO 27001 and data protection.
• Experience with governance or cataloguing tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra or Precisely is an advantage.
• You communicate clearly, adapt to different audiences and enjoy helping stakeholders adopt new ways of working.
• You work in a structured, pragmatic and solution-oriented way, with attention to continuous improvement.
• You are comfortable collaborating across complex, decentralised environments and take ownership of your work.
• You are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus.
