YOUR TASKS
- You will assist in the clinical teaching related to the medical care of the hospitalized patients from the department of large animal surgery, anaesthesia and orthopaedics for the benefit of first-, second-, and third-year veterinary medicine master’s students.
- You will contribute to practical exercises, including those in the skills lab.
- You will help supervise master’s theses for veterinary medicine students.
- You will help oversee the training of equine interns.
- You will contribute to training programs organized within the Academy of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
- You will contribute to clinical scientific research in large animal surgery.
- You will actively participate in night and weekend shifts on a rotating basis.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine. You must have met the degree requirement by the date of appointment.
- For degrees obtained outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence from NARIC must be submitted.
- You engage in other professional activities and/or have demonstrable experience that can contribute to the quality of clinical education and related clinical services.
- Experience in mentoring students is preferred.
- You have an interest in clinical scientific and/or project-based research.
- Participation in continuing education, conferences, etc., is preferred.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a one-year appointment which may be renewed indefinitely for maximum five years at a time. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University.
- The 30% mandate will be supplemented with an additional 20% appointment as scientific staff.
- Your appointment will start on 15 October 2026 at the earliest.
