Role Overview
The Project Quantity Surveyor will report directly to the assigned Commercial
Manager and will take commercial support of projects ranging in value from €10m
to €40m. This role requires a proactive approach to project management,
ensuring that contracts are managed effectively, and risks are minimized while
maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. The successful
candidate will be instrumental in protecting the financial and contractual
interests of the business, delivering high-quality service and support to our
clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial coordination and support on large-scale projects, ensuring that all aspects are aligned with company standards and client expectations.
- Secure multiple quotations to demonstrate best value and conduct comprehensive reviews of supply chain proposals.
- Ensure all contracts and orders comply with insurance, bond, and warranty requirements and are executed correctly before project commencement.
- Collaborate with site teams to ensure accurate assessment of supply chain quotations and that all scope, exclusions, and clarifications are clearly understood.
- Prepare and submit client valuations in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and schedules.
- Monitor and coordinate subcontractor applications, certifying completed works for payment and maintaining compliance with payment schedules.
- Work closely with the finance department to resolve any payment issues with the supply chain and ensure timely debt settlement.
- Maintain accurate project records, both electronically and physically, to ensure ease of access for all team members.
- Lead final account negotiations and ensure prompt submission and agreement of final accounts.
- Support the estimating department by providing historical cost data for tender preparations.
- Participate in monthly cost reporting, ensuring all cost data is accurate and that projects remain in a balanced cash flow position.
- Foster a collaborative and professional approach when dealing with clients and supply chain partners, maintaining high standards of commercial confidentiality.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience managing multiple commercial projects with a value of €10m and above.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Solid understanding of construction methodologies and project management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience with COINS or similar commercial software is highly desirable.
