About Enterprise Functions

A global organisation. It's not just those in our industrial sites and technical centres that are vital to Umicore's growth. Across our enterprise functions we ensure that we continue to grow and evolve - whether it's by making sure our decisions are commercially viable, enhancing our reputation, building new customer relationships or finding the right people who can build on what we've already achieved. The variety of our work means we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.

Job Purpose

We are currently looking for a Director, Global Treasury Operations & Markets based in Brussels, Belgium to lead Umicore's global Treasury operating platform and ensure robust, efficient and scalable execution across cash and liquidity management, banking, financial markets, FX and interest-rate risk management, and metal-related activities.

Reporting to the VP Group Treasurer, you will translate Treasury strategy into effective global execution, combining strong controls and compliance with increasingly standardised, efficient and resilient operations across our global and regional Treasury teams.

Your Key Accountabilities

  • Lead global cash and liquidity management, banking infrastructure and Treasury-market execution within established policies and mandates.
  • Lead operational foreign exchange and interest-rate risk management, overseeing exposures, hedging execution, monitoring and appropriate escalation.
  • Oversee Treasury execution supporting Umicore's metal-risk management activities, ensuring disciplined hedging, leasing and related activities within appropriate mandates and controls.
  • Oversee intercompany funding and related Treasury flows, ensuring efficient liquidity allocation and appropriate management of financial and operational exposures.
  • Define and maintain global Treasury operating standards, controls and governance, ensuring consistent and compliant execution across regions.
  • Own the global Treasury operating model and allocation of activities across Group, regional and local teams. Establish clear responsibilities, delegated authorities, reserved matters and escalation routes.
  • Drive continuous improvement, simplification and standardisation of Treasury operations, partnering closely with Global Treasury Process & Transformation on process redesign, automation, technology and transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure Treasury infrastructure and capabilities continue to support evolving business, financing and risk-management requirements, including responsible use of AI to enhance forecasting, risk monitoring and exception management.
  • Lead and develop the Global Treasury Operations & Markets organisation, setting priorities, allocating resources and building capabilities and succession.
  • Partner closely with the VP Group Treasurer, regional Treasury leaders, Global Treasury Process & Transformation, Credit & Financing Solutions and key stakeholders across Finance and the businesses, as well as banks and market counterparties.

Who we are looking for

  • 10+ years of relevant Treasury experience, ideally gained in a complex international corporate environment, with significant responsibility across Treasury operations, markets and financial risk management.
  • A university degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline, combined with strong practical Treasury expertise.
  • Broad hands-on experience across cash and liquidity management, banking, FX and interest-rate risk management, financial markets and Treasury operations, with particularly strong exposure to financial markets and risk management.
  • Experience working across countries and regions in an international organisation; exposure to complex markets and operations across regions such as Asia and Latin America would be valuable.
  • Proven experience leading teams and senior stakeholders across geographical and functional boundaries, with the ability to create alignment, develop talent and operate effectively in a global matrix
  • Fluent English (both written and spoken)

Alignment with Umicore's values:

  • Courage to challenge the status quo: curious and forward-looking, you embrace change, explore new ideas and help turn them into practical improvements.
  • Collaboration: an inclusive leader who actively seeks different perspectives, builds bridges across teams and regions, and creates an environment where people can contribute
