Senior/Principal Consultant – EU Environmental and Climate Transition

Responsibilities

  • Manage tasks under tight deadlines, manage relations with clients, partners, and experts, show strong communication skills, be willing to travel in Europe and worldwide, and be proactive.
  • Contribute to project leadership and delivery.
  • Contribute to business acquisition and growing the portfolio of works.
  • Contribute to forge, implement and promote Technopolis Group strategy around Green Transition in the EU and national markets.
  • Contribute to expand and manage a team.
  • Design methodological approaches to answer complex policy questions and anticipate emerging trends.
  • Contribute to generate new business leads, including bid writing in response to calls for tenders/calls for proposals (mainly EU institutions).
  • Be part of project team and lead projects of various scales and of various complexities.
  • Perform analytical and empirical work.
  • Draft reports and policy papers, targeted to donors, policy-makers and target stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience in a consultancy, think tank, policy-making body, or applied research organization, working in one or more of the following areas: Climate change mitigation and adaptation, Energy transition, Circular economy, Green innovation and research, Biodiversity and nature-based solutions, Natural resource management, Blue economy.
  • A Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental or ecological economics, political science, or a closely related field.
  • Extensive experience in advisory and analytical services, including policy and programme design, evaluation, and impact assessment (preferably with knowledge of the Better Regulation Toolbox).
  • Project management for EU institutions or technical assistance projects.
  • Team, project, and client management experience working with or within the European Commission is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of EU and international environmental, sustainability and climate policies, such as the EU Green Deal, Fit for 55, Circular Economy Action Plan, REPowerEU, and the Nature Restoration Law, along with awareness of broader sectoral and societal trends.
  • Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative methods, including research design, statistical analysis, big data analytics, ESG indicators, and economic/environmental impact assessment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading proposal development and securing funding or contracts.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information and provide clear, evidence-based conclusions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, multicultural environment, with an interest in developing further project coordination and management skills.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential; knowledge of additional European languages is an advantage.
