The Analytical Science team in Seneffe is a key part of this global network, providing world-class analytical expertise to support research, product development, process optimization, and customer-focused innovation. Leveraging advanced analytical technologies and deep scientific knowledge, the team partners closely with R&D, manufacturing, and commercial organizations to deliver impactful solutions across a broad range of material science applications.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior R&D Specialist – Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy to join our Analytical Science division in Seneffe, Belgium.
In this role, you will apply advanced analytical techniques to solve complex challenges in industrial chemistry and materials science. Working closely with global R&D, manufacturing, and business teams, you will provide critical insights that support product development, process optimization, manufacturing excellence, and customer-focused innovation.
As a subject matter expert in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, you will lead analytical investigations, develop new measurement methodologies in a world class NMR lab with global resources, and enhance existing analytical capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across a diverse global network while supporting multiple high-impact projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Lead analytical investigations to resolve complex technical, product, and manufacturing challenges.
- Develop, optimize, and implement advanced NMR methodologies to expand analytical capabilities.
- Manage and maintain state of the art NMR instrumentation including cryoprobe technology.
- Interpret complex analytical data and provide technical leadership on projects involving materials characterization, process optimization, and product performance.
- Drive innovation through the application of advanced analytical techniques and scientific problem solving.
- Share technical expertise, mentor colleagues, and contribute to capability building within the Analytical Sciences community.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality analytical results while managing multiple priorities and project timelines.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Biochemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy including method development and advanced applications, for example in multidimensional solution-state NMR, pulse programming, solid-state NMR, and/or DNP-NMR.
- Strong knowledge in at least two of the following areas: analytical chemistry, polymer science, organic chemistry, materials science, coatings or formulation science, chemical processing, polymer characterization, or statistics/data analysis.
- Proven track record of applying analytical science to solve complex technical challenges.
- Experience supporting research, product development, manufacturing, or process optimization programs.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Additional language skills, preferable French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish or German are an advantage.
