We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Storage Engineer to manage and optimise storage operations within a z/OS environment. This role is responsible for maintaining resilient storage services, supporting backup and recovery capabilities, and planning for future capacity and performance needs.

You will work closely with mainframe specialists and cross-functional IT teams to ensure storage availability, data integrity, and alignment with security requirements.

Responsibilities:

Administer and optimise IBM DS8000 storage systems.
Maintain high availability across the mainframe storage environment.
Design and implement backup and recovery strategies using GDPS.
Monitor storage capacity and performance, and plan for future requirements.
Safeguard data integrity and ensure compliance with applicable security protocols.
Collaborate with mainframe teams and other IT functions to support reliable storage operations.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of storage processes and infrastructure.

Qualifications:

8-10 years of relevant experience in mainframe infrastructure or storage engineering.
Hands-on experience administering IBM DS8000 storage systems.
Experience working in z/OS environments.
Experience designing or implementing backup and recovery strategies using GDPS.
Strong understanding of storage availability, capacity planning, performance, data integrity, and security controls.
Ability to collaborate effectively with mainframe specialists and cross-functional IT teams.

Preferred skills:

Experience migrating storage infrastructure.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as REXX or Python.
Exposure to mainframe DB2 administration.

Work arrangement and location

This is a hybrid role based in Brussels, Belgium, with an expected start date of 30 September 2026.
