SUMMARY
This position performs basic to moderatedifficultylaboratory tests todeterminechemical or physical characteristicsdesignatedby our clients.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sets up, adjusts andoperateslaboratory equipment for which the technician has been adequately trained and has been verified tooperatecorrectlyin accordance withapplicable standards and sound laboratory practice.
Perform analytical tests of basic to moderate difficulty from well-defined standards and procedures.Laboratory technicians must be verified to be able to perform all testsin accordance withapplicable standards and sound laboratory practice.
Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment.
Calibrate laboratory instruments for which the technician has been adequately trained and has been verified tooperatecorrectlyin accordance withapplicable standards and sound laboratory practice.
Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in laboratory and safety manuals and company policies.
Attend training and passappropriate examinationsin petroleum, chemical and gas analysis, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials disposal, and other safety and compliance training required by applicable regulations.
Understand and be able to complete laboratory raw data sheets and makeaccurateentries into laboratory computer programs.
Resolve routine issues without supervisionrequired.
Attend regular safety meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GEDrequired.
At least one-year related laboratory experience and/or training preferred
Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
Has a working knowledge of basic to moderate difficulty methods and safety standards, including ASTM, UOP, IP and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
Ability to write basic routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak professionally with customers or employees oforganization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and quantities (linear, volumetric, or weight) and to read and interpolate applicable data and tables. Able to draw and interpret applicable graphs and control charts.
Ability to apply commonsenseunderstanding to carry out instructionsfurnishedin written, oral, or diagram form.
Requires the ability toworka non-traditional work hours/daysschedule, including overtime.
