Looking for more than a traditional accounting or finance role? As part of EY FinanceOnSite, you will work directly within the finance teams of public sector and non-profit organizations, helping them tackle financial, operational and transformation challenges on a project basis. FinanceOnSite consultants are embedded in the client's organization while remaining part of EY's ACR team.

You will support clients in areas such as accounting, budgeting, reporting, financial planning, controlling and process optimization, helping them strengthen their finance function and make better-informed decisions. At the same time, you'll enjoy the variety of project-based work, exposure to different organizations and continuous development opportunities within EY.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a FinanceOnSite Consultant, you will provide hands-on support to finance teams within public sector and non-profit organizations. You will strengthen the client's finance department and help ensure the smooth execution of day-to-day accounting and financial operations. Based on the assignment, your responsibilities may include:

  • Taking ownership of or supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting and fiscal regulations including month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities, reconciliations and preparation of audit files
  • Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements, budgets, forecasts and multi-year financial plans, while monitoring variances and providing actionable financial insights.
  • Serving as a key point of contact during audit processes and liaising with external stakeholders such as auditors, governmental bodies and other public sector partners.
  • Supporting public sector and non-profit organizations with BBC reporting, subsidy accounting, project accounting and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls and reporting frameworks, while contributing to finance transformation, ERP implementation and digitalization initiatives.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical finance skills with a genuine interest in the public sector. You enjoy working close to the client, quickly understanding their environment and bringing structure where needed. More concretely, you have:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a financial or economic field;
  • Gained some initial analytical or accounting experience (2-3 years);
  • Knowledge or experience in or with public sector, local government, non-profit or social profit organizations;
  • Experience with BBC regulations, local fiscality, retributions or similar public finance topics;
  • An interest in supporting organizations with a societal impact and contributing to stronger public services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in Dutch. Next to that, you are fluent in English;
  • A natural talent for building trusted customer relationships;
  • You are willing to roll-up-sleeves and get the job done;
  • You enjoy change and are eager to learn.
