PhD position in Consumer Behavior analysis: integrating AI, IoT, and conceptual modeling

The candidate will work on the development of Machine Learning and optimization techniques to make supermarket operations more sustainable. He/she will find a dynamic and pleasant working environment in both universities, in groups that are actively involved in scientific research at the highest international level.

Some research keywords of this PhD position are:

  • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Conceptual Modelling
  • Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN)
  • Machine Learning
  • Consumer Behavior

The candidate will be expected to participate in seminars and conferences, be internationally mobile, and enroll in both institutes' PhD programs. He/she may be asked to give guidance to Bachelor and Master students and to be involved in teaching activities.

Profile

The candidate should have a strong interest in Machine Learning and its diverse applications. He/she should preferably hold a Master's degree in Business Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field. An average annual result of "distinction" during university education is required, as well as a very decent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good programming skills in Python and/or R are an asset. Students who are currently in the final year of their Masters are especially encouraged to apply.

Offer

We offer employment as a full-time doctoral scholarship for 1 year at KU Leuven (Belgium), followed by 3-year employment at SKEMA Business School (France), provided that the candidate successfully passes first-year requirements at KU Leuven.

The tentative starting date is September 2024, but there is flexibility depending on the availability of the candidate.
