Context and project
A public sector organisation is evolving a business application designed to gradually replace legacy solutions that have become obsolete. Several increments are already in production and have been well received by users. The technical foundations are in place.
The focus now lies on extending the functional scope, integrating with a financial software package and a user portal, and ensuring the maintenance, security and continuous improvement of the application. The role strengthens an existing development team within an application maintenance centre.
The work follows an Agile (Scrum) framework with two-week sprints. The role involves close collaboration with the project manager, analysts, quality engineers and business users.
Responsibilities
- Analyse and develop front-end (Angular) and back-end (Java) features.
- Implement the new business features planned in the backlog.
- Contribute to integrations and automations with third-party applications.
- Fix defects and handle production incidents.
- Ensure corrective, evolutive and preventive maintenance of the application.
- Translate user improvement requests into technical solutions.
- Prepare, execute and document technical and functional tests.
- Contribute to technical and functional documentation, traceability and knowledge transfer.
- Take part in Agile ceremonies and sprint reviews.
- Work on other applications of the maintenance centre when no priority work is pending.
- Front-end and back-end features developed, tested and ready for deployment.
- Technical analyses and solution proposals.
- Test scenarios, validation results and defect tracking.
- Technical documentation for operations and maintenance.
- Source code compliant with the project’s quality standards.
Experience
- Expert: at least 24 months of hands-on experience over the last 3 years.
- Advanced: at least 12 months of hands-on experience over the last 3 years.
- Beginner: at least 3 months of hands-on experience over the last 3 years.
Required technical skills
- Angular / TypeScript: advanced
- Relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL): advanced
- Unit testing and software quality (JUnit, Cypress, Playwright): advanced
- Code review, application maintenance and takeover of existing code, favouring evolution over rewriting: advanced
- Working in an Agile team: advanced
- Version control (Git, GitLab): beginner
- Authentication and authorisation (OIDC, Keycloak): beginner
- AI-assisted development (code analysis, writing code and tests): beginner
Nice-to-have skills
- Knowledge of tax processing or complex calculation logic
- Team mentoring experience
- Clear communication with both technical and business stakeholders
- Autonomy, organisation and sense of responsibility
- Pragmatic, results-driven approach focused on serving users
- Comfort with continuous prioritisation
