About Giga
Giga is building gigawatts of AI data centers to hasten a future of intelligence and abundance. We build data centers fast and at scale by combining the capabilities of an equipment supplier, engineering firm, general contractor, and real estate developer under one roof. Our team moves quickly and thinks practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.
- The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
- The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
- The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
- The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.

What You’ll Do
As the Mechanical Field Engineer, you will be the person who keeps mechanical construction moving when the field runs into a question the drawings can't answer. You'll write and resolve RFIs, chasing down design intent, code requirements, and existing conditions so the field never sits idle waiting on an answer. You'll own change orders end-to-end — spotting scope changes before they become disputes, documenting them, pricing them out with the team, and running them through to resolution and approval. You'll work daily with the Mechanical Superintendent, the design team, and subcontractors to make sure the paper trail matches what's actually getting built.
Where you’ll work
This is a site-based role. You'll be on-site full-time at an active Giga data center construction site, with the specific location depending on current project needs, with potential relocation or extended assignment to other active sites as the portfolio grows.
Responsibilities
- Identify, write, and track RFIs for mechanical scope, ensuring clear documentation of the issue, impact, and requested resolution
- Follow up with design teams and engineers of record to drive RFIs to timely closure, escalating stalled items
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs to spot discrepancies, conflicts, or missing information before they become field problems
- Identify potential change order conditions in the field and document them accurately and promptly
- Prepare change order requests, including scope description, backup documentation, and cost/schedule impact
- Coordinate with project controls, PMs, and subcontractors to price, negotiate, and resolve change orders
- Maintain a change order and RFI log, and report status regularly to the Mechanical Superintendent and Project Director
- Support field layout and installation checks to verify work matches approved drawings and RFI/change order resolutions
- Coordinate with commissioning and controls teams to ensure resolved RFIs and change orders are reflected in as-built documentation
- Assist with material takeoffs and procurement follow-up tied to approved change orders
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience as a field engineer, project engineer, or similar role on mechanical construction projects
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, including CRAH
