We are looking for a Java Technical Lead for a key client based in Brussels, Belgium.
- Act as technical reference for the design, modernization and support of enterprise Java applications
- Define, implement and review Java components using Spring, JPA/Hibernate, SQL and REST APIs
- Troubleshoot complex issues (application, database, integration, build, deployment, performance) with root-cause analysis
- Maintain Spring Batch processes, REST APIs, PDF/Excel report generation and high-volume data transfers
- Manage Maven builds, CI/CD pipelines, releases, backports and environment configuration
- Ensure security governance: OAuth/OIDC, RBAC/ACL, segregation of duties, OWASP principles
- Coach developers through code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing
- Work with analysts, architects, security, database, infrastructure and operations teams
- Strong command of Core Java: OOP, design patterns, collections, concurrency, exception handling
- Solid hands-on experience with Spring Framework, JPA/Hibernate, SQL, REST APIs, Git and automated unit/integration testing
- Proven experience in performance tuning: Oracle query plans, indexes, JDBC/ORM behaviour, pagination, memory use
- Advanced Spring Batch experience: keyset pagination, restart/recovery, transaction boundaries
- Experience with Maven, CI/CD pipelines and release management
- Experience with reporting and data export (PDF, Excel, Data Warehouse)
- Strong knowledge of application security: OAuth/OIDC, RBAC/ACL, OWASP, certificate management, vulnerability remediation
- Experience as technical lead or escalation point in complex enterprise environments
- Active knowledge of French or Dutch
- Fluent English, including technical and business documentation
