Bid Engineer

Job description

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Bid Engineer – Medium Voltage Solutions.

In this role, you will translate customer needs into tailored technical and commercial solutions. You will collaborate closely with clients, sales, and technical teams to configure and propose medium-voltage solutions from our portfolio.

Our portfolio includes low and medium-voltage switchgear, protection systems, substation automation, power quality solutions, smart communication, and microgrids. Projects span public operators (DSO/TSO) and private customers (industry, data centers, power plants) in Belgium and French-speaking Africa.

As the technical point of contact, you will define the right solution based on your expertise and input from stakeholders (sales, customers, internal experts, headquarters). You will also translate complex technical details into clear, customer-friendly proposals.

Your Responsibilities

• Analyze project requests and convert them into appropriate and feasible technical solutions from our portfolio
• Perform basic engineering of the solution (single-line diagrams, conceptual design of control, protection or telecom systems)
• Conduct technical clarification of projects with customers through meetings: analyze, explain, and clarify the technical offer and contractual clauses
• Prepare quotations, including technical descriptions, cost calculations, and complete documentation
• Provide technical support to Sales colleagues, offering expertise during pre-sales customer negotiations
• Follow up on offers and validate proposals together with Sales
• Assist in the transfer of bids from the sales/bid team to Project Execution colleagues, ensuring a smooth handover

Your Profile

• Master’s degree in (electro)engineering or equivalent
• Strong interest in medium voltage and/or protection systems
• 2+ years of experience in electrical distribution/transport (utilities, industrial power systems, or similar)
• Project management experience is an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint; knowledge of calculation tools is a plus)
• Strong communicator and team player, able to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Languages: Dutch & English or French & English or Trilingual with Dutch, French & English
• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple bids simultaneously
• Flexible, structured, and responsive to change
