Automotive Embedded Software Development Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Automotive Embedded Software Development Engineer to join a high-tech transmission and driveline development program in Belgium. The role focuses on low-level, real-time embedded software for safety-critical automotive systems and involves close collaboration with hardware, electronics, and systems engineering teams.
Job Description
You will design and develop low-level embedded software for next-generation automotive transmission applications, ensuring robust hardware–software integration, high reliability, and ASIL-compliant functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) drivers
- Develop and integrate SBC and CAN transceiver MCAL modules or complex device drivers
- Document software design and implementation in a clear and structured manner
- Collaborate closely with hardware and system engineers
- Debug, test, and validate embedded components
- Develop ASIL‑D–compliant safety‑related software
Required Skills & Experience
- Several years of embedded C programming experience for real-time systems
- Strong experience with HAL components and SPI driver development
- Familiarity with RTOS environments
- Solid knowledge of communication protocols
- Experience with Renesas RH850 microcontrollers
- Experience with AUTOSAR applications (BSW / MCAL / CDD understanding)
- Experience with Vector / ETAS platfroms for AUTOSAR‑compliant development
- Hands‑on experience with tools such as CANape, CANoe, or CANalyzer
- Strong analytical mindset and structured way of working
- Proactive, hands‑on, and highly motivated attitude
- Good communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MSc in Electronics or Computer Science
- Familiarity ISO 26262, and ISO 21434 standards
