Automotive Embedded Software Development Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Embedded Software Development Engineer to join a high-tech transmission and driveline development program in Belgium. The role focuses on low-level, real-time embedded software for safety-critical automotive systems and involves close collaboration with hardware, electronics, and systems engineering teams.

Job Description

You will design and develop low-level embedded software for next-generation automotive transmission applications, ensuring robust hardware–software integration, high reliability, and ASIL-compliant functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) drivers
  • Develop and integrate SBC and CAN transceiver MCAL modules or complex device drivers
  • Document software design and implementation in a clear and structured manner
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and system engineers
  • Debug, test, and validate embedded components
  • Develop ASIL‑D–compliant safety‑related software

Required Skills & Experience

  • Several years of embedded C programming experience for real-time systems
  • Strong experience with HAL components and SPI driver development
  • Familiarity with RTOS environments
  • Solid knowledge of communication protocols
  • Experience with Renesas RH850 microcontrollers
  • Experience with AUTOSAR applications (BSW / MCAL / CDD understanding)
  • Experience with Vector / ETAS platfroms for AUTOSAR‑compliant development
  • Hands‑on experience with tools such as CANape, CANoe, or CANalyzer
  • Strong analytical mindset and structured way of working
  • Proactive, hands‑on, and highly motivated attitude
  • Good communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSc in Electronics or Computer Science
  • Familiarity ISO 26262, and ISO 21434 standards
