Freelance Robotics Engineer

My client are working on an advanced robotic arm platform designed for use within hospital environments. The system will assist clinical staff by automating repetitive tasks such as medication handling, sample transportation, laboratory preparation, and equipment delivery within controlled healthcare settings.

We are seeking a hands-on Robotics Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and optimisation of robotic systems operating safely around healthcare professionals and patients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise robotic arm control systems for healthcare applications.
• Implement motion planning, kinematics, and manipulation algorithms.
• Integrate sensors, vision systems, and end-effectors to enable autonomous task execution.
• Support integration with ROS/ROS2 environments.
• Conduct system validation, testing, and performance improvements in simulated and real-world settings.
• Contribute to safety assessments and risk mitigation for operation in clinical environments.

Required Experience

• Strong experience developing robotic manipulation systems and robotic arms.
• Commercial experience with ROS or ROS2.
• Expertise in robot kinematics, motion planning, and control systems.
• Programming experience in Python and/or C++.
• Experience integrating sensors, cameras, or machine vision systems.
• Knowledge of autonomous systems, robot safety, and human-robot interaction.
• Comfortable working across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
