BESIX is working—together with leading partners from the Belgian construction sector—on one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in our country: the Oosterweel Link – ROCO Project.

On the Rechteroever, we are constructing the new Canal Tunnels, deepening the Antwerp Ring Road, and creating space for a greener, safer, and future-oriented urban environment.

With this project, we are literally and figuratively helping to build a healthier, more efficient, and livable region for hundreds of thousands of residents and commuters.

As a Senior Construction Buyer, you will:

Be in charge of the procurement plan for projects involving earthworks, demolitions, and civil works;
Take off and schedule materials from drawings and specifications;
Collaborate with BESIX Group Procurement category managers to leverage optimal conditions for specific projects;
Send out supplier tender inquiries and analyse the received responses;
Source, select, and negotiate the best purchase packages considering quality, price, terms, delivery, and services with suppliers and contractors;
Prepare purchase documents and issue orders in accordance with specifications;
Assist construction sites with daily plant and materials requirements;
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery;
Deal with site or supplier delivery and invoice queries;
Oversee the preparation and processing of purchase orders and documents in compliance with company policies and procedures;
Report to the head of Purchasing of the Oosterweel Project.

Qualifications

You have a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering or in Construction;
You have prior experience as a Construction Buyer, ideally with infrastructure projects;
You have at least 5 year experience in the purchase of construction works;
You speak and write Dutch fluently and have a good command of English;
You have good knowledge of materials used in groundworks;
You have strong negotiation skills;
You have commercial sensitivity;
You are open-minded and an active listener;
You are a team player and you have good communication skills;
You have good knowledge of MS Office.
