In this advanced role, you will balance hands-on project work (50-80%) with a broad range of leadership responsibilities. You will drive technical excellence, mentor your peers, and set the standard for quality in data and cloud engineering. Your passion for data and its potential will empower you to design, build, and optimise cutting-edge data platforms. You’ll experiment with the latest approaches to ensure every client receives best-in-class solutions.

Working closely with our Machine Learning Engineers, Cloud Architects, Data Strategists, and fellow Data and Cloud Engineers you’ll help execute projects across diverse industries with a comprehensive, quality-driven, end-to-end approach. As a leader within the team, you will shape our technical vision, foster a culture of knowledge sharing, and ensure the continuous growth of your fellow team members.

You bring the following qualities & experiences to the role:

  • Master’s or Doctorate in a quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in data and cloud engineering.
  • Proven Expertise in Data & Cloud Engineering: You excel at designing high-performance data platforms and architectures and have experience leading technical teams.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: You have a track record of successfully leading and coaching engineering teams. Your experience includes driving internal projects, defining technical roadmaps, and prioritising work to align with quarterly goals.
  • Strong Software Engineering Foundations: Proficient with Git, Python, SQL, and Docker, you write clean, maintainable code and advocate for best practices.
  • Cloud Engineering Mastery: You have hands-on experience with Terraform and are skilled in building scalable, secure, cloud-based infrastructures on platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • End-to-End Pipeline Expertise: You can create complex ELT/ETL data pipelines —both batch and streaming— using technologies such as spark/dbt and schedule them with tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
  • Hands-on Experience with Data Platforms: You are proficient with platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Services, or AWS Data Services.
  • Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex solutions into clear client deliverables and to mentor team members effectively.
  • Fluency in English (speaking Dutch/French fluently is a very big advantage).
  • Consulting experience is a big plus.
