Software Engineer

We are looking for a Software Engineer - Energy to join our Energy department based in Louvain-la-Neuve.

We are continuously looking at how we can support system operators (TSOs, DSOs, Transcos, and Integrated Utilities) with advanced grid optimization tools. System operators face a tremendous challenge. They are under heavy pressure to upgrade and expand their networks fast - but face shrinking time windows available to execute this work. Our standardized solutions enable operators to maximize work throughput while maintaining uncompromised grid safety, efficiency, and reliability.

As a Software Engineer - Energy, you willhelp the company be the top reference in Advanced Analytics Solutions for energy power systems. You will contribute in particular to the inception, development, and validation of a new optimization platform, aimed to help system operators better execute expanding CAPEX and maintenance programs within tighter, less predictable execution windows.

What you’ll do

• Together with the N-SIDE team, and more particularly the GEO task force, you will help incept, develop and deliver a new grid execution optimization platform:
  • Collaborate with the product owners, analysts and tech lead to gather and analyze requirements, and design software solutions that meet business needs.
  • Lead backend developments & rapid prototyping. Implement new features and do the maintenance of a Spring Boot backend codebase (Web MVC, JPA, Security, ,...), including, among others algorithm, servers, APIs (Rest API, …) and databases.
  • Contribute to the integration of some of our existing solutions at customers to get acquainted with the tech stack.
  • Participate in containerization (Docker), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm charts, Argo, …), continuous integration & continuous deployment aspects.
• As a Software Engineer, you will also participate in the technical growth of the product and team. You will therefore:
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development.
  • Depending on your seniority level, you may also mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and fostering their growth within the team. Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • By providing qualitative code reviews and participating in technical choices around our product, you will ensure that the team develops an efficient, reusable, and reliable code, and that they adhere to coding standards, best practices, and company guidelines.

About you

• You have a master in Computer Science or Software Development; or a bachelor with minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience.
• You have solid programming skills. Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot is a must.
• You demonstrate extensive knowledge of Spring Web MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security.
• You are interested in software design and wish to contribute and evolve in that career path.
• You demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities. You are able to break down complex problems into manageable components and devise efficient solutions.
• You have a continuous learning mindset. The tech stack is constantly evolving, so a willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and best practices is essential for long‑term success.
• You have a great team spirit, creativity, sense of initiative and responsibility. You are willing to share your knowledge and, depending on your seniority level, to mentor junior profiles.
• Leveraging agentic coding for rapid prototyping and proof-of-concepts has no secret for you.
• You are also able to take AI integration to a higher level: everything we build will leverage AI directly or be architected as AI‑native (e.g., agent or LLM‑powered apps, scalable model interfaces, etc…)
• You are fluent in English.
