We are looking for an enthusiasticNavaids SystemSpecialistto join the team at skeyes, the leading player inaviation. Safety is key for us, and we continuously strive for thehighest standards to keep aviation safe and efficient.

As aNavaids System Specialistat skeyes, you willbe responsible for maintaining navigation aids (Navaids), which areessential to aviation. NAVAIDS are systems that help pilots navigateaircraft; they are installed on the ground and enable pilots tonavigate and land without visual references. Such aids, radio beaconsand Instrument Landing Systems are essential to the safety andefficiency of air traffic throughout Belgium. Performance BasedNavigation (PBN) using satellite navigation systems (GNSS includingGPS, GALILEO, etc.) is also part of the Navigation story.

What does a Navaids system specialist do at skeyes?

  • analysing problems and suggesting improvements or solutions are animportant part of the job;
  • you will follow up on the preventive and corrective maintenance ofthe various pieces of equipment such as landing systems, radiobeacons, etc. to ensure their proper functioning, using professionalmeasuring equipment, a measuring truck (with trailer) and ameasuring drone. Keeping track of this work in maintenance logs andtechnical reports is essential;
  • a system specialist contributes to the development, installationand testing of new systems. It is also important to ensure thatnavigation systems are compliant with ISO standards and national andinternational regulations;
  • you will maintain professional competence by attending internaltraining courses (to become a certified team member) and participatein a shift working regime to be available after normal working hoursto keep the systems operational 24/7;
  • training employees in the field is also a crucial task to promoteknowledge and skills within the team.

What makes you the perfect Navaids system specialist?

  • you have a graduate/bachelor's degree in electronics or aerospaceengineering, or similar training/work experience;
  • you have in-depth knowledge of radio frequency (RF) techniques,computer networks and digital and analogue electronics;
  • you communicate fluently in English and also express yourselfexcellently in Dutch or French with a solid basic knowledge of theother language;
  • you have at least a category B driving licence to be able totravel to intervention sites;
  • you are a team player, but you are also able to work independentlyand autonomously when the situation requires it;
  • flexibility, stress-resistance and eagerness to learn areessential for adapting to new technologies and unforeseen situations;
  • reliability, sense of initiative, and good organisation skills arecrucial to perform this job efficiently and professionally.
