The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting the establishment, implementation and continuous improvement of the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Program by maintaining and enhancing EHS procedures, systems, training, equipment and documentation.
This position reports to the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager and is part of the EHS team located in Leuven and will be an on‑site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Monitor and maintain EHS performance, including tracking key performance indicators and performing site tours. Facilitate the preparation and reporting of EHS metrics.
- Lead incident investigations and perform root cause analysis using recognized methodologies (e.g., 5‑why, fact tree analysis). Evaluate and develop corrective and preventative action plans and communicate with stakeholders.
- Communicate and build awareness of the EHS management system – including planning, coordination and facilitating onboarding and ongoing training for associates.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the EHS management system.
- Support, maintain and enhance the Environmental Management System, including but not limited to waste management programs, chemical storage, internal audits, etc. (ISO14001 standard).
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Working knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements.
- Required Prevention Advisor level III, preferred level II.
- Preferred EHS experience in a chemical handling/manufacturing environment.
- Preferred knowledge of ISO Standards, ISO 14001 is a plus.
- Fluent in Dutch and proficient in English.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- ISO standards internal auditing programs.
- First aid and/or chemical spill cleanup.
