Areyou recently graduated and motivated with a passion for biotechnology, fermentation, and microbial processes? Then join our innovative team at MAASH, a leading fermentation companyspecializing in mycoprotein production.
Asa lab intern in our R&D department, you’ll contribute to projects focusedon optimizing the efficiency androbustness of our production process, with a particular emphasis on the early stages of the seed train.
This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic labenvironment, apply your theoretical knowledge, and gain practical experience infermentation technology, process optimization, and microbial cultivation. You’ll collaborate with our R&D team to analyse data, troubleshootchallenges, and develop solutions that drive sustainable and scalablemycoprotein production.
Your main project will focus on optimizing the first two steps of theseed train: stock culture propagation and the initial liquid culture. You will conduct a detailed investigation torefine the inoculation procedure, analyse media composition(including nitrogen and carbon sources), and evaluate key culture parameterssuch as pH, temperature, and agitation speed.
The internship begins with comprehensive training in all relevant labtechniques and analyses, enabling you to independently design and executeexperiments. Optimized procedures will then be validated in lab-scalefermentations (2L) using controlled bioreactors. This hands-on experiencewill allow you to participate in, train on, and operate fermentations ina real R&D setting, providing valuable exposure to industrial bioprocessdevelopment.
During your internship, you will work with a range of methods andtechniques, including:
- Fungal cultivation in Erlenmeyer flasks, on agar plates, and in glass bioreactors
- Media preparation andsterilization
- HPLC analysis for metabolite quantification
- Microbial andmicroscopic analysis for quality control
- Data analysis andreporting of experimental results
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as astudent or a recently graduated Bachelor in biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, or a related field.
- Passionate aboutfermentation processes, hands-on lab work, and data analysis.
- Proactive,detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and in a team.
- Familiar with goodlaboratory practices and experienced in aseptic techniques.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Available for a period of minimum4 months, startingfrom September 2026
