Senior Cybersecurity Disaster Recovery Expert

Purpose

As an external consultant acting as Senior Cybersecurity Disaster Recovery Expert for the organization, youwill ensure robust governance and strategic oversight of resilience capabilities. Your mission is to

maintain realistic, validated DR strategies and continuity arrangements that balance technicalfeasibility with business priorities.

You Will provide pragmatic guidance, perform cost-benefit analyses for DR options (e.g., active-active vs. cold standby, datacenter distance, replication strategies), and drive maturityimprovement across DR and BC processes, frameworks, and culture.

Key Activities

1. Define and maintain DR strategy and standards.
2. Ensure RTO/RPO requirements are realistic and embedded in architecture.
3. Advise on multi-site recovery, failover patterns, and interdependencies.
4. Oversight & Reporting
   • Review DR test results and ensure actionable remediation.
   • Maintain dashboards, KRIs, and resilience heatmaps.
   • Monitor coherence of multi-site DR architecture.
5. Expert Support
   • Offer pragmatic advice for complex recovery scenarios.
   • Guide stakeholders on hybrid cloud/on-prem DR designs.
   • Ensure dependency mapping and architectural alignment.
6. Stakeholder Coaching
   • Train teams on DR responsibilities and guide them as you improve the overall DR Plan
   • Produce clear documentation and best practices.
   • Promote resilience culture
7. Maturity Improvement
   • Assess current DR maturity using recognized models (e.g., ISO 22301 maturityscale).
   • Define and implement a roadmap for continuous improvement.
   • Introduce metrics and benchmarks to track progress.
   • Recommend automation, tooling, and governance enhancements.

CONFORMITY CRITERIA

• 20+ years in IT of which 10+ years in Resilience and Disaster Recovery
• 1 letter of recommendation from previous employer/client providing proof of successfultrack record of having set up Disaster Recovery in similar environments.
• Certifications: CISSP and at least one risk related certification
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent through Experience
• You communicate fluently in Dutch, French and English (spoken and written). Dutch orFrench as a mother tongue or at least C level, the other language at least B2 level. ForEnglish at least level B2
• Experience in maturity assessments and improvement programs

Competences, as evidenced by CV

• Capability to assess and improve organizational maturity
• Proven Business experience, outside of IT Domain

Are considered a plus:

• Experience with similar critical infrastructure environments.
• Relevant certifications for DR
• Proven experience with multi-site recovery and high-dependency environment
