The Electrical Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on port equipment, including Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes, Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, mobile equipment, vehicles, and other heavy industrial machinery. The role ensures that equipment operates safely, reliably, and in compliance within industry standards
Main Duties
- Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on cranes and terminal equipment.
- Inspect and repair electrical systems including motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, wiring, distribution boards, and control panels.
- Troubleshoot faults and diagnose failures using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct routine tests, calibrations, and inspections to ensure operational efficiency.
- Able to work on 1-phase and 3-phase systems which are not connected to the grid
- Support breakdown recovery to minimise operational downtime.
- Assist with installation, upgrades, and commissioning of new electrical systems and components

Technical Skills And Work Experience
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (AC/DC motors, VFDs,PLCs, relays, sensors).
- Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Experience with diagnostic tools and electrical testing equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required.
- Strong awareness of safety in heavy industrial and port environments.
