Software Developer

We are looking for an experienced SoftwareDeveloper to join a specialist technology team working on secure, data-driven applications in a highly controlled and security-sensitive environment, in hybrid working model.

The role combines modern web development, Python-based data processing, ETL, SQL, dashboard development and data integration. You will work with both classified and unclassified data sources and collaborate closely with technical teams, stakeholders and senior leadership to deliver reliable, secure and user-focused solutions.

The successful candidate will have strong hands‑on experience in JavaScript/HTML and modern frontend frameworks, together with solid Python, .NET and Microsoft SQL capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, configure and maintain web applications using modern web development frameworks.
• Transform, integrate and process data from both classified and unclassified sources into secure web-based systems.
• Perform data conversion, preprocessing and transformation using Python APIs and ETL technologies.
• Develop and enhance data collection tools in line with stakeholder requirements.
• Build and maintain backend services and data‑processing pipelines.
• Develop data-driven dashboards and visualisations for senior stakeholders using Python and/or Power BI.
• Work with large and complex datasets using Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy and Matplotlib.
• Design and implement data‑processing and automation solutions.
• Develop and maintain high‑quality technical documentation covering code, APIs, service endpoints and system architecture.
• Prepare user and training materials to support adoption of developed solutions.
• Support security testing, verification and approval activities.
• Conduct functional and user acceptance testing with stakeholders to ensure that solutions meet agreed requirements.
• Work closely with the Lead Point of Contact and relevant stakeholders to understand requirements and priorities.
• Regularly report on project progress, technical issues, risks and potential impacts on delivery timelines.
• Provide technical input into project planning and risk management.
• Present and brief technical progress, achievements and potential issues to senior technical and organisational stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively with other developers, engineers and project stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in web development.
• Strong experience with JavaScript and HTML.
• Hands‑on experience with modern frontend frameworks such as:
  • React
  • Vue.js
  • Angular
• Extensive practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong practical experience with Python for:
  • Automation
  • Data processing
  • ETL
  • Data analysis
• Experience with Python data libraries such as Pandas, NumPy and Matplotlib.
• Experience developing data‑driven dashboards for business or senior stakeholders using Python and/or Power BI.
• Experience building and maintaining backend services, APIs or data‑processing pipelines.
• Ability to work with data originating from multiple systems and sources.
• Familiarity with Git/version control.
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies and project delivery practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
• Advanced level of English.

• Practical experience with .NET / ASP.NET.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with enterprise ETL and data integration technologies.
• Experience working with secure or highly regulated environments.
• Experience supporting security testing and system accreditation/approval processes.
• Experience working with both classified and unclassified information environments.
• Experience presenting technical information and project status to senior stakeholders.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology or a related technical discipline.
