Brussel Hoofdstad, Belgique KaraFun Group Temps plein 70 000 € - 110 000 € Contrat

KaraFun Group is a team of passionate people from all walks of life, united by one goal: bringing joy through music.

For over 20 years, we've been creating and publishing websites and apps dedicated to music and karaoke, used all over the world by consumers and professionals alike. Our mission? Getting the whole planet singing

Our products are used at scale every day, but also in our own karaoke bars in Lille, Paris and Brussels. In other words, when we build something, we quickly get to see it live in real conditions.

The role

As part of our growth, we're looking to strengthen our team with a Senior Data Engineer able to take technical ownership of our data platform.

Our platform currently relies mainly on GCP, BigQuery, SQLMesh and Python. It was initially built with the help of an external partner and now needs to be fully mastered and operated in-house.

The role is therefore particularly important: it's not about starting from a blank page, but about understanding what already exists, gradually taking ownership of it, making it more reliable where needed, and evolving the platform in a structured way.

The goal is simple: making sure the data we need is available, reliable, understandable, properly modeled and observable when an issue arises.

You'll work closely with the data, backend and infrastructure teams, in particular on ingestion, modeling, data quality, observability and contracts with source systems.

Your missions

You will:

  • Take technical ownership of our data platform and data warehouse.
  • Understand and evolve the existing architecture and the various data flows.
  • Maintain and improve the ingestion pipelines and integrate new sources.
  • Ensure data freshness, availability and reliability.
  • Design and maintain the various modeling layers: ingested data, staging, business models, dimensions, facts and marts.
  • Evolve transformations and models with SQLMesh.
  • Set up and strengthen tests and quality checks: uniqueness, nullability, consistency, completeness, freshness, abnormal variations…
  • Implement effective observability to quickly detect data issues.
  • Investigate incidents, identify their root cause and get things running again.
  • Work with the backend teams to define sufficiently stable data contracts and prevent data consumers from depending directly on the internal details of applications.
  • Help monitor and optimize the costs of the data platform.
  • Collaborate with our Data Analyst on analytical needs, usage and the models required by the various consumers.
  • Take part in architecture decisions and progressively evolve the components
