A public administration has deployed an Alfresco document management system (DMS) to hold the digital personnel files of its staff. The current features cover storage and basic document management.
The goal is to extend this foundation with a more advanced web application, with a strong focus on document search and ease of use. An analysis of the existing setup is under way, and its findings will feed into the specifications.
The application handles confidential data, some of it sensitive. GDPR compliance is a core requirement.
Target architecture: User → Angular → Java / Spring Boot REST API → Alfresco. The lightweight back-end decouples the front-end from the DMS.

- Display results and handle navigation through documents
- Implement document viewing and download

- Design the REST / JSON APIs between the front-end and Alfresco
- Implement business rules, parameter validation and access control
- Translate front-end requests into Alfresco queries and aggregate data from multiple sources
- Handle operation logging and error management
- Integrate authentication and authorisation through Spring Security and the organisation’s SSO (OpenID Connect)
Documentation
- Write the technical and operations documentation
- Contribute to the user guide, with support from business teams
Quality and delivery
- Work within the existing DevSecOps pipeline and follow internal development standards
