The Strategic Buyer is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies in support of large-scale industrial projects. The role focuses on supplier sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier performance management, cost optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure project success, supply chain reliability, and value creation.
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop a competitive supplier base.
- Lead Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Requests for Proposal (RFP).
- Assess suppliers based on Quality, Cost, Delivery (QCD), Sustainability, and HSE performance.
- Participate in supplier qualification programs and audits.
- Develop alternative sourcing strategies to mitigate supply chain risks and improve resilience.
Negotiation and Contract Management
- Prepare and lead commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers.
- Secure optimal commercial terms including pricing, payment terms, warranties, service levels, and delivery conditions.
- Ensure contractual compliance while protecting company interests.
- Manage supplier agreements, framework contracts, and contract renewals.
- Monitor contract execution and ensure proper follow-up through contract closure.
- Strong contract management and negotiation skills are highly desirable.
- Establish and monitor supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Resolve quality, delivery, and commercial issues with suppliers.
- Promote supplier innovation, collaboration, and long-term partnerships.
Cost Management and Value Creation
- Lead cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analyses.
- Identify opportunities for standardization, value engineering, and alternative sourcing.
- Support budget objectives and profitability targets.
- Contribute to working capital optimization initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and Project Management teams.
- Support internal stakeholders on procurement-related matters.
- Participate in strategic projects and business improvement initiatives.
- Ensure procurement requirements are integrated into project execution plans.
- Contribute to risk management and overall project performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, project procurement, or industrial purchasing.
- Experience in EPC, Energy, Oil & Gas, Process Industries, Manufacturing, or other complex industrial environments is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of procurement and sourcing processes.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations and contract management.
- Experience managing supplier performance and KPIs.
- Understanding of complex project execution environments.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Results-oriented with a proactive mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working in international and multicultural environments.
- Additional languages are considered an advantage.
