What you will do

Within the policy department of a Belgian public-sector organisation, the volume of data underpinning policy processes is growing rapidly: monitoring data, permit data, spatial and administrative datasets. Processing, validating, linking and making this data accessible requires significant and recurring effort. Today, subject-matter experts often take on this work themselves, leaving them less time for policy development, interpretation and strategic files.

You will support this operational data work across the department. You will process and validate data from different sources, link them spatially and administratively, and help transform them into overviews, maps, indicators and basic reports for policy questions, reporting obligations and requests from the press, parliament and local authorities. You will also handle quick, short-term analysis requests arising from ongoing policy processes.

Concrete applications include soil monitoring, an updatable report per special protection area, and analyses supporting spatial planning policy, such as the evolution of the housing market, real estate holdings and trends in the agricultural sector.

You will work closely with the subject-matter experts and the other data analysts in the department.
