Data Engineer – Production & Supply Chain
As a Data Engineer – Production & Supply Chain, you transform operational data into reliable and scalable data products that support reporting, Power BI, machine learning, and AI applications.
Working with data from ERP, MES, WMS, and other operational systems, you design and maintain data pipelines, models, and integrations that make data accessible, trustworthy, and actionable across the organization.
Together with BI/RT Solution Partners, Data Scientists, IT teams, and business stakeholders, you help build solutions that improve decision-making across production, planning, inventory, logistics, service, and quality.
The function
- You develop, maintain, and optimize robust ETL/ELT pipelines that transform operational data into trusted datasets for BI, analytics, machine learning, and AI applications.
- You integrate data from production and supply chain systems such as ERP, MES, WMS, planning, transport, and quality management systems.
- You design and manage data products and semantic models covering topics such as production performance, forecasting, inventory management, OTIF, planning, traceability, logistics costs, and operational efficiency.
- You ensure data quality, monitoring, documentation, lineage, and observability, enabling reliable and scalable use of data across the business.
- You apply modern engineering practices such as version control, CI/CD, testing, DataOps, and data modelling standards.
- You work closely with Data Scientists, BI professionals, IT teams, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data solutions and actionable insights.
As a Data Engineer, you will report directly to the Data & Analytics Platform Architect.
Your profile
- You hold a Master's degree in Data, IT, Engineering, or a related field and have experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or in a similar role. Experience within manufacturing, supply chain, FMCG, or food production is a strong asset.
- You have strong SQL and Python skills and experience working with modern cloud data platforms, preferably Azure, Databricks, or similar lakehouse technologies.
- You have experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, lakehouse architectures, testing, and documentation. Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks is considered a plus.
- You understand the importance of data quality, governance, security, observability, and performance, and know how to build scalable and maintainable data solutions.
- You combine strong analytical and communication skills with a pragmatic mindset and enjoy collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- You actively leverage AI tools to improve productivity, accelerate development, and enhance collaboration within your team.
- Experience with SAP ERP and related business processes is considered a strong advantage.
- You communicate fluently in English and enjoy collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders. Knowledge of Dutch a plus.
